Behind-The-Wheel for Teens

​

John's Driving School offers Behind-The-Wheel lessons for teens (ages 15 & up) who have completed all 10 classroom lessons, passed their written permit test, and paid their state fees. It is strongly recommended that you take your first Behind-The-Wheel lesson within 2 months of obtaining your permit.

 

After pre-registering, text or email us to schedule a convenient time to complete your first lesson. Lessons are available Monday - Sunday by appointment only.

 

John's Driving School will pick you up for your lesson at John's Driving School location, your school, work or home.

 

After you have had time to practice what you have learned, schedule two more lessons with John's driving instructors to complete your required 6 hours of instructor training. A Certificate of Completion (White Card) will be given when your required hours are completed. Click here to download your Student Driving Log.

Behind-The-Wheel for Adults​

John's Driving School also offers Behind-The-Wheel lessons for adults! Adult lessons are available to fit adult work schedules.

You can even use our car for your driver's test!

COVID-19 Update:

Due to the current backlog of current John's Driving School students scheduled for Behind-The-Wheel lessons, we will not be scheduling adult Behind-The-Wheel lessons for individuals who have not previously attended John's Driving School classroom instruction.

Behind The Wheel

2024 Behind-The-Wheel Fees
Read Thoroughly
Teens (18 & Under)          
Classroom students            $70 per 2-hour lesson
Non-classroom students      $80 per 2-hour lesson
Please remember to have your VALID PLASTIC permit and your payment of $70 (does not include fuel charge, please see below) in check (written out to: John's Driving School) or cash . FYI: Please keep in mind *IF PAYING BY CHECK ONLY* that your white slip, which is needed to take your test, will not be valid for 14 days after your final lesson. Also, please bring your past EVALUATION sheet (if you have one), and your up-to-date DRIVING LOG. Please remember to wear TENNIS SHOES, and glasses/contacts/sunglasses if needed.
PLEASE NOTE: if you need to cancel or reschedule your lesson and avoid a $70 missed lesson fee, you need to CONTACT ME more than 24 hours before the lesson and if your lesson falls on a Monday or a weekend, PLEASE CONTACT your Instructor directly BY THE PREVIOUS FRIDAY by 2 p.m to avoid a missed lesson fee. (FYI: lost or stolen permit/wallet will result in fee.) Thank you and see you then!
Per your contract with us and to keep up with inflation, we are assessing a fuel charge at this time.
$5/2hr lesson up to $3.50/gal
$6/2hr lesson up to $4/gal
$7/2hr lesson up to $4.50/gal
$8/2hr lesson up to $5/gal
$9/2hr lesson up to $5.50/gal

Adults 
$120 per 2-hour lesson
Behind-The-Wheel payments must be made in person and are due at the start of each lesson. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance or you will be charged for the missed lesson. Occasionally, a student will be picked up or dropped off during another student's lesson. This is not considered driving time for the student.
